Dančíková, Marcela ; Raudenská, Jaroslava (advisor) ; Jirkovský, Daniel (referee)
The bachelor's thesis looks at how Locus of control, spirituality and religiosity affect health and chronic pain. The theoretical part deals with the issue of pain, with emphasis on pharmacotherapy. The terms Locus of control, religiosity, spirituality and their effect on physical, psychological health and pain are explained, including an overview of methods to measure the listed 3 domains. It also focuses on linking the relationship of religiosity, spirituality, Locus of control, quality of life and emotional experience in people with chronic pain. Objectives: The aim of the empirical part was to identify differences between individuals with external Locus of control and internal Locus of control in sociodemographic, religiosive, clinical and affective variables, and how the locus of control predicts the variables. Methods: It involved 43 patients with chronic pain who were hospitalized at the Clinic of Rehabilitation and Physical Medicine 2. LF UK and FN Motol. We were interested in sociodemographic data, including pain data, where intensity, discomfort and pain duration were included. The VAS scale was used to measure intensity and discomfort. We have used the LOC scale to determine whether an individual is an internalist or an externalist.Furthermore, questionnaires from GHLC, DUREL, FPQ-III,...
Relation locus of control on prevalence of depresivity by infertil person
Blašková, Ivana ; Loneková, Katarína (advisor) ; Hrachovinová, Tamara (referee)
This master thesis deals with infertility and its treatment. Both in the theoretical and empirical part, it focuses on the female aspects of the issue. The theoretical part summarizes an overview of key information important to understand the presented problems. We define the terms, describe the psychological and physiological causes of infertility, the process of treatment of infertility and aspects thereof. We focus on the depression rate related to infertility and its treatment, furthermore, we deal with type locus of control related to the experienced rate of depression. Our aim in the empirical part is to describe the depression rate, type of locus of control within the two samples of women acquired by us and capture the possible connections. The sample is made of 58 women who are currently undergoing a treatment for infertility and of the control group, which is made of 58 healthy women. To collect the data, we used the Beck Depression Inventory BDI-II, the Rotter's Internal- External Scale and the anamnestic questionnaire. Based on acquired data, we found out some specifity in depression rate and type of locus of control within our samples of women.
Influence of Religiosity on Quality of Life of patients with Epilepsy
Kolská, Marta ; Javůrková, Alena (advisor) ; Nikodemová, Hana (referee)
Objectives: The aim of this thesis is to investigate how the variables Locus of Control, God Locus of Health Control and religiosity predict the quality of life of patients with epilepsy and whether these variables differ in prevalence in a healthy control group. Methods: The research group consisted of 275 patients with epilepsy examined within the neuropsychological Centre for the Treatment of Epilepsy of the Department of Neurology, 2nd Medical Faculty and Motol University Hospital. The comparison group consisted of a group of 182 healthy respondents. Respondents were interviewed using WAIS-III, EPQ R abbreviated version, BDI-II, VAS, QOLIE-89 (version 1.0) and GLHC. The t-test and the Mann-Whitney test were used to determine differences between groups. Contingency tables were used for discrete quantities. The relationship between the variables was demonstrated by Spearman's correlation coefficient and multiple linear regression. The research was approved by the Ethics Committee of the Motol University Hospital. Results: The resulting model of stepwise linear regression prediction of the Mean score showed that by including the variables Neuroticism HS and GLHC˃6 in the overall model, these significant variables can explain 21.44 % variability of Locus of control (R2=0.2144). It was also found...
Locus of control of unemployed people
PAŤHA, Jan
The topic of locus of control (LOC) is not well known in society yet, but it concerns all of us. The LOC plays an important role in all people's life, for example, in decision-making and in dealing with life situations. Our subsequent decisions may result from the orientation of our LOC to the internal or external pole. The aim of my bachelor thesis was to find out the LOC in unemployed people registered at the Labour Office in Český Krumlov district. For this thesis I used a quantitative research with a questionnaire method, which was implemented using a standardized questionnaire. The data obtained during the research were entered into a matrix in MS Excel and further evaluated using the IBM SPSS Statistics program. Hypothesis were tested by Pearson chi-square test. The first research question was designed to find out which LOC is more common among the unemployed. Hypothesis 1 investigated the effect of age on LOC among the unemployed. According to the results obtained in my research, this hypothesis wasn´t confirmed. The second hypothesis examined the effect of duration of unemployment on LOC among the unemployed. The research results confirmed the hypothesis. It was found that external LOC prevails among the long-term unemployed. The results of my research could help to improve social work with unemployed clients. This thesis could facilitate the choice of action in dealing with their social situation of unemployed.
Locus of control in socially excluded Roma
JESTŘÁB, Jakub
The aim of the diploma thesis was: "to describe the Locus of control of socially excluded Romani people", while the main research question was: "What is the specifics of Locus of control in socially excluded Romani people?" The following hypotheses were established: "The degree of social exclusion affects the Locus of control in socially excluded Romani people.", "There are differences between gender and Locus of control in socially excluded Romani." and "There are differences in Locus of control in socially excluded Romani people employed and unemployed. " To achieve the goal, a strategy of quantitative research was chosen, which was carried out using the method of questioning through standardized questionnaires Locus of control IPC scale Hanna Levenson and the questionnaire Scale of social exclusion. The research group consisted of 537 respondents from the ORP České Budějovice and Cheb 106. Hypothesis H1 was tested using the so-called correlation analysis. Hypotheses H2 and H3 were tested using the so-called T-test for two independent groups (unpaired, two-sample T-test). In the first hypothesis (H1) based on the findings, it can be stated that one of the three parties available to Locus of Control has been confirmed, as there is a statistically significant relationship between internal and random (r = 0.118; p = 0.006); external and random (r = 0.184; p = 0.000) and external and exclusive (r = -0.090; p = 0.037). In the second hypothesis (H2) it has been found that the relationship does not exist, i.e. nothing significant was found (internal - t = 1,642 and sig = 0,101; external - t = -, 270 and sig = 0,788; random - t = 1,186 and sig = 0.236). In the third hypothesis (H3) it has been found that the relationship does not exist, i.e. nothing significant was found (internal - t = 1,642 and sig = 0,101; external - t = -, 270 and sig = 0,788; random - t = 1,186 and sig = 0.236). The findings of the diploma thesis can be used in the integration of acquired knowledge into community work in socially excluded localities.
Sibling relationship in relation to locus of control
SPÍNOVÁ, Dominika
ABSTRACT This bachelor thesis is focused on the search for relationships between birth order and concept of locus of control. The theoretical part consists of a chapters which, except a family and education, also contain detailed description of invidual birth order and their personality characteristics together with the theory of locus of control from the point of view of J. B. Rotter and H. Levenson. The primary goal of the empirical part is verify the relationship between birth order and locus of control using the IPC scale questionnaire. The secondary goal is to verify the connection between birth order and parental educational situations. The research sample consists of 147 respondents consists of female (N = 112) and male (N = 35). Data are collected and then compared both from individual respondents which are not related to each other and from respondents within entire families where are three siblings (N = 36). During the verification of hypothesis itself, no significant differences between birth order and locus of control in the whole research group were confirmed, but significant differences were found between locus of control and birth order from indivdiual families. The connection between birth order and parental educational situations has been proven.

The Relationship of Social Support, Coping, Depressive Symptoms and Lokus of Control in Patients treated by Perioneal Dialysis and Hemodialysis
Bělešová, Sylvie ; Kebza, Vladimír (advisor) ; Hrachovinová, Tamara (referee)
Patients with chronic kidney failure, given that it is impossible to undergo transplantation, have to be treated by lifelong hemodialysis (HD) via extracorporeal circulation machine 3 times a week in hospital; or by peritoneal dialysis (PD) performed by patients at home. There were a number of studies comparing quality of life between HD and PD, but there have been fewer studies covering other psychological variables. The aim of this study was to examine whether HD and PD patients differ in social support, locus of control, coping and depressive symptoms. 143 HD patients (average age 65,56; 48,3 % men, 51,3 % women) and 48 PD patients (average age 63,79; 66,7 % men, 33,3 % women) were approached by random selection. Social Integration Survey (SIS) was applied to examine social support. Locus of control was depicted on visual analog scale. Coping strategies were mapped by a short version of COPE questionnaire - Brief COPE, which was translated to Czech language for this purpose. Beck's depression inventory (BDI - II) was used to evaluate incidence of depressive symptoms. Based on data statistical analysis there was no difference proved in social support, coping strategies, locus of control and depressive symptoms among HD and PD patients. Although HD and PD differ and cause diverse advantages and...
